Landlords and
Property Managers
Landlords and Property Managers come in all shapes and sizes, from private to mom and pop, all the way to corporate and even governments. Some are reputable and do what needs to be done to keep their tenants taken care of.
However, there is a growing trend of landlords, property managers, corporations, and even governments that are prioritizing profit over their legal obligations. Many of these individuals or entities who claim to be "landlords" are allowing their tenants to reside in hazardous and unsanitary conditions. Sadly, these negligent landlords and property managers are posing significant challenges for both tenants and our communities at large. This alarming situation calls for immediate attention and intervention. It is crucial to address these issues to ensure the safety and well-being of tenants and to uphold the legal responsibilities that come with being a landlord or property manager. Neglecting these duties not only jeopardizes the lives of tenants but it is also an ever growing situation that is leading to serious health problems mentally, physically and even emotionally.
When tenants find themselves in need of help or assistance in dealing with the various issues they face, it is disheartening to realize that there are very few avenues to turn to. Churches, non-profit organizations, government assistance programs, and other community services, which one would hope could offer support, often fall short or entirely fail to provide the aid that is required. This lack of assistance leaves tenants feeling abandoned and vulnerable.
In some instances, there may be Tenant Associations available to help address issues and concerns, but unfortunately, these associations are far and few in between. Typically, they are only found in larger buildings or complexes with multiple tenants, leaving those residing in smaller properties without any assistance. Whether you have experienced this firsthand or are currently dealing with such circumstances, it is evident that there is virtually no help available. This unfortunate reality leaves tenants feeling helpless and without a support system to turn to for guidance or resolution.
The absence of such organizations highlights the need for more comprehensive tenant representation, ensuring that all tenants, regardless of the size of their dwelling, have access to the assistance they need.
